The International Group Programs serves international students with varying levels of English language proficiency who are participating in short-term, in-person programs at HPU. Each program is tailored to the particular group’s needs and focuses on experiential learning in English language as well as in American and Hawaiian cultures. Instructors primarily create lesson plans, develop materials, provide classroom instruction, and maintain basic student records (engagement and performance) but may be asked to lead and/or support walking tours and other local excursions, and assist as conversation partners. Instructors work with the Director of International Group Programs to ensure that instruction is level-appropriate and tailored to individual groups.
