Adjunct - Engineering

Department: Department of Computer Science
Location: Honolulu, HI

Job Summary:
The Engineering Adjunct serves as an academic professional, delivering courses, and providing service to, and on behalf of, the University. The specific focus is teaching either lower or upper division engineering courses, such as basic circuit theory, digital hardware and microcontrollers, electronic devices (diodes, MOSFETs, BJTs), signals and systems, and control systems. Help related to the syllabus and specific course material will be provided. There is some flexibility in assigned class times.

Compensation:
$1,150 per credit hour - Doctorate
$1,050 Per credit hour– Master's

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching undergraduate students in a diverse environment.
  • Advanced coursework beyond the Bachelor's level.

Other Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
  • This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation.
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends.
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  1. Teach existing course materials or modify & teach according to one’s expertise (90%)
  2. Working individually with students to assure their class success (5%)
  3. Assessment of students in meeting program and class objective (5%)
